Blog Post #1: Welcome everyone!
Hello everyone & welcome to my blog Healthy Habits for Healthy Lives!
My name is Jenna Stanbury and I am currently in my fifth year of the concurrent education program here at Brock University with my teachable subjects in French and Mathematics. So, you may think that my blog would fall under one of these two categories? I have actually decided to do my Genius Hour Project on different eating habits. I would like to look into different ideas of 'healthy eating' and would like to see how these various eating habits affect my daily life.
I used to be very unhealthy, about a year and a half ago, I lost 50lbs through diet and exercise and managed to keep 40lbs off through the pandemic. I changed my lifestyle and developed a lot of confidence and healthy habits, but I am always looking for new ideas and habits that I could implement in my life. Now that this is a new year, I have come up with a resolution to lose an additional 40lbs over the next year to reach my goal size, but I would like to do some research as to which healthy habits are best for my body.
Many people turn towards fad diets to lose weight fast, but this year I would like to understand why certain diets work/don't work, and I would like to figure out how my body reacts to certain foods, habits, and changes. For the first two weeks of this project, I would like to research different habits, diets, tips, and tricks that people typically use to either lose weight or to become healthier. Some diets/lifestyle changes I would like to look into are Low-Calorie Plans, Keto Diet/Low Carb Diet, Vegetarian Diet, Intermittent Fasting, or Paleo Diet. Of these 5 different diets, I would like to choose 3 that I will implement for 2 weeks each. Over the twelve weeks, I will track my meals, my workouts, my sleep patterns, my weight changes, how I feel day-to-day, and any other factors that may be altered due to these eating habits. I will complete this project in a healthy manner and can't wait to see any changes throughout this process!
